Daily Schedule

Spend 12 days in Italy with Leah Darrow and Fr. Leo Patalinghug traveling through some of the most incredible regions of Italy, including Milan, Venice, Verona, with an optional extension to Rome.

All of the details have been thoroughly managed by Select International Tours, an experienced group tour operator specializing in Faith-based tours. Don't miss out on this once in a lifetime experience!

Day 1: July 7

Fly to Milan

(Day 1) July 7:
Depart USA on an overnight trip to Milan

Depart from Newark airport for an overnight flight to Milan, Italy. Dinner and breakfast will be served on the plane.

Day 2: July 8

Milan

(Day 2) July 8: Milan

Our first stop takes us to the Duomo of Milan, otherwise known as the Cathedral of Milan. This famous cathedral is the third largest in the world and took nearly six centuries to complete.

To finish out the day, we celebrate Mass and return to our hotel for dinner.

Day 3: July 9

Milan

(Day 3) July 9: Milan - The Last Supper, Italian Outlet Shopping, and Turin

Our day starts with Mass with Fr. Leo. After that we head to see Leonardo da Vinci's famous "The Last Supper" painting, located in the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie.

Our day continues with a dynamic panoramic city tour of Milan and stopping into Milan's famous outlet mall for afternoon of shopping.

We travel to the mountain city of Turin in the evening.

Day 4: July 11

Turin

(Day 4) July 11: Turin

We've got a packed day in Turin. We start the day off going to the Cathedral of San Giovanni where we will visit a replica of the famous Shroud of Turin, the burial cloth of Jesus Christ. We also have the privilege of celebrating Mass in the Cathedral.

From there we visit the tomb of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati who actively shared the Faith as a young man in the city of Turin.

After that we visit some of the sights of Turin, including the Mole Antonellianna, the symbol of Turin, the Piazza Castello, and the Basilica di Superga.

For lunch, we head to Eatily. Expect an amazing dining experience here.

In the evening we finish off the day with a visit to the Basilica of Maria Ausiliatrice and the Church of St John the Evangelist. The night ends with a decadent chocolate tasting and a visit to a chocolate factory.

Day 5: July 12

Parma, Modena, & Bologna

 

(Day 5) July 12: Parma, Modena, & Bologna

Our day starts off in Parma enjoying one of Italy's fine food at a Ham factory where they cure prosciutto. We continue our culinary journey in Modena, known for Parmigiano Reggiano and Balsamic vinegar. We'll also visit a local farm where we get see some cheese masters at work.

Lastly we'll travel to Bologna to celebrate Mass in Santo Stefano church.

Day 6: July 13

(Day 6) July 13: Bologna

Our day starts off seeing the sites and sounds of the city of Bologna where we'll celebrate Mass. We'll then hike up to the Sanctuary of the Madonna of San Luca. We'll keep it easy in the afternoon doing a little shopping and getting lunch.

And for dinner we have a special cooking class with Fr. Leo preparing tortellini or lasagna bolognese.

Day 7: July 14

Padua

(Day 7) July 14: Padua and the City of St Anthony

In the morning we depart for Padua. When we get to Padua we'll explore the Basilica of St. Anthony where we'll celebrate Mass.

After that we travel to Mestre, which is in the heart of Venice.

Day 8: July 15

Verona

(Day 8) July 15: Verona - Romantic Tales of Love, Food, and Wine

We start the day off in Verona, famous for being the setting of Shakespeare's famous Romeo and Juliet.

We'll make our way over to Frantoio Salvagno where we'll do some olive oil tasting. 

Next, we'll go to San Mattia vineyard and a working farm to explore another side of Italy's famous food culture, tasting wine and recioto, a luscious sweet dessert.

 

Day 9: July 16

Venice

We have a full day in Venice lined up. We'll start by making our way over to the Basilica of St Mark which is famous for it's Italio-Byzantine design and opulence. Particularly, the Pala D'Oro, which is the high altar in the basilica, shows off precious jewels and scenes of saints.

We'll then venture out to the Rialto Bridge and the Bridge of Sights, taking in the waterways and gondolas of the city.

In the afternoon there is an optional tour of visiting the Murano and Burano islands to visit a glass factory or taking a gondola ride.

Finally, we'll have a farewell dinner at a local restaurant for those only going on the main part of the pilgrimage.

Day 10: July 17

Early in the morning we are transferred to the airport and our flight home.

Rome

(Optional Day 10) July 10: Rome

For those staying for the optional extension we'll depart on a train from Venice to Rome.

When we arrive in Rome we'll start off going to the Basilica of St. Mary Major, one of the oldest and largest churches in the world.

We'll then go to experience the Scala Sancta or Holy Stairs, the stairs which Jesus Christ ascended as he met with Pontius Pilot for his trial.

Next we'll visit the Basilica of St. John the Lateran, the oldest and largest of the major basilicas. It's also the cathedral church of Rome.

We'll finish off the day with a walking tour of Rome, visiting the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon, and Piazza Navone.

Optional Day 11: July 18

Today we'll make our way to St Peter's Square to join thousands of other pilgrims for an audience with Pope Francis. After the audience, we'll enjoy a leisurely day in the city and get to explore Rome on your own.

Optional Day 12: July 19

Vatican

We'll make our way back to Vatican City to explore all that the Vatican has to offer, including special visits to the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel, a tour of St. Peter's Basilica, and a visit to St Paul Outside the Walls.

The pilgrimage will end with a special dinner.

Optional Day 13: July 20

Return to USA
